Nisos is looking for a DevOps Engineer to support our developers, ETLers, and investigators. Our engineering team is small, but we work as a cohesive team to ensure the products we deliver are first-class.

Our developers build locally on Macs and deploy to AWS in containers and on Debian server VMs. You will work to automate as much of that as possible using a to-be-determined CI/CD pipeline to shepherd code and images from dev to test to prod.  

You'll automate cloud infrastructure (servers, networking, DNS, load balancers, etc) and code deployment. We use Ansible, relying heavily on roles and even a few custom modules. It's okay if you haven't used Ansible as long as you've spent a few years authoring Infrastructure as Code (IAC) in one of the major dialects. We host our infrastructure in AWS. You may not have the certifications, but you've spent a few years in the trenches in an IT Operations role. If you know a wee bit about AWS or Google Cloud Platform (GCP), it will most definitely help.

What You'll Do

    • Deploy cloud-based infrastructure in AWS and GCP using Ansible.
    • Build CI/CD pipelines for in-house application deployments.
    • Develop and maintain image definitions for containerized applications.
    • Perform system administration and develop hardening routines for Debian and other linux systems.
    • Work with development team to implement application performance monitoring and alerting.
    • Work effectively in a cooperative and collaborative global team environment.

What You'll Bring

    • 5+ years professional experience
    • Degree in Computer Science or similar , or a combination of education and equivalent work experience
    • Basic understanding of AWS Services including IAM, EC2, S3, Route53, EBS, ACM, ELB and KMS. Lambda and GCP experience a plus
    • Basic understanding of Ansible or other infrastructure as code configuration management
    • Understanding of VPN technologies, namely OpenVPN
    • Basic understanding of containerization
    • Proficient in a scripting language, such as Python or Bash
    • Understanding of SSL Certificates and general Private Key Infrastructure
    • Experience with RESTful web services a plus

Where You'll Work

    • While these positions report to our Alexandria, VA Headquarters office, our team is distributed nationwide and full remote work opportunities are available.  You must be authorized to work in the United States.

Where You'll Go

    • Employees may need to travel within the U.S. or Northern Ireland but it is expected to be 10% or less.
