About the Team

The Senior Analyst - Finance Operations will work within the Finance team at Nium and play a crucial role in maintaining financial excellence, safeguarding of client funds processes and the reconciliations of all transactions relating to our card issuing program. Our Senior Analyst - Finance Operations will have the opportunity to evolve in a dynamic environment, taking initiative on operations and supporting our very ambitious growth objectives.

Key Responsibilities

    • Support the daily safeguarding of client funds processes, including preparation of the daily client money reconciliations, initiation of fund movements and implementation of new processes. A reviewer and approver role may be assigned accordingly.
    • Identify and resolve safeguarding reconciliation issues or escalate them according to procedure.
    • Assist in operational treasury activities, including liquidity management, managing pre-funding with partners, settlements clearing and daily payments to card schemes within specified timeframes.
    • Support the management of operational flows and procedures for internal settlement processing systems.
    • Assist in maintaining current policies and procedures and propose improvements to internal control framework.
    • Help ensure timely compliance with regulatory requirements and reporting obligations of the card schemes.
    • Maintain and update the central documentation repository for all reconciliation processes and internal procedures, including the FinOps risk register.
    • Contribute to the continuous improvement and standardisation of processes and reporting, including automation and the design and implementation of new processes and controls.
    • Daily bookkeeping duties including maintenance of the general ledgers in line with accounting standards to support timely financial reporting, prepare month-end reconciliations and other deliverables, whilst collaborating with other finance functions.
    • Provide guidance, coaching and training to junior team members.
    • Collaborate with all group departments, banking partners, legal counsel and other external stakeholders.
    • Support internal and external audits, coordinate responses to auditor findings and assist in implementing action plans accordingly.
    • Prepare ad hoc financial reports, participate in other global projects and support senior management as required from time to time.

Requirements

    • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or related field.
    • Experience in a similar financial operations role and working with card scheme (Visa and Mastercard) and card processor reconciliations.
    • Proficient in internal controls, regulatory compliance requirements and safeguarding of client funds processes are considered a strong plus.   
    • Experience and understanding of financial reporting, including general ledger, trial balance, balance sheet, income statement and financial statements.
    • Good proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
    • Excellent organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to work within a team, manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
    • Ability to deliver financial and non-financial information and reports to key partners and stakeholders.
