About the Role

The Senior Manager – Finance Operations will lead the FinOps function and will play a pivotal role in maintaining financial excellence and overseeing the safeguarding of client funds process. You’re an ideal candidate for this role if you have a continuous drive to enhance processes, systems and reporting. Additionally, you should be able to multitask, prioritise and manage the team’s workflows, perform well under pressure and excel in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

    • Take full ownership and provide oversight of the safeguarding of client funds processes, including approving daily client money reconciliations and reviewing fund movements, acting as the escalation point for any safeguarding reconciliation issues.
    • Lead operational treasury activities and oversee pre-funding with partners, managing settlements clearing and daily payments to Card Schemes (Visa / Mastercard) within specified timeframes.
    • Oversee and coordinate the reconciliation process for all financial partners' setups.
    • Manage operational flows and procedures for internal settlement processing systems.
    • Ensure that policies and procedures for safeguarding client money are kept current, setting the compliance tone with regards to regulatory obligations.
    • Ensure timely compliance with regulatory requirements and reporting obligations of the card schemes.
    • Maintain an updated central documentation repository for all reconciliation processes, internal procedures and take ownership of the FinOps risk register.
    • Drive continuous improvement and standardisation of processes and reporting, including automation and the design and implementation of new processes and controls to ensure efficient, accurate and timely financial reporting.
    • Take ownership of the internal reconciliation engine, collaborating with the engineering team, business intelligence team and other consultants to ensure appropriate data validation checks, automate and fully integrate systems.
    • Ensure the accuracy of general ledgers, maintain proper accounting records for the business operations and adhere to standard accounting principles.
    • Oversee the month-end tasks and take a key reviewer role in delivering management accounts within the month-end process, collaborating with other finance functions.
    • Manage the FinOps team, motivate team members, establish performance goals and objectives, and facilitate professional development.
    • Collaborate with all group departments, banks, legal counsel and other external stakeholders.
    • Manage internal and external audits, coordinate responses to auditor findings and implement action plans accordingly.
    • Assist with other global projects, support the Board and collaborate with other senior management, as required from time to time.

Requirements

    • 5+ years’ experience in a similar financial operations management position.  Experience in FinTech, payment processing, navigating startup landscapes and/or working within organisations with cross-jurisdictional operations are considered a strong plus.
    • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or related field.
    • Experience working with card scheme (Visa and Mastercard) and card processor reconciliations is a strong plus.
    • Proven track record of implementing process improvements and driving operational efficiency.
    • Understanding of compliance and regulatory requirements related to financial operations and safeguarding of client funds.
    • Good proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
    • Excellent organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage a team, multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
    • Conversant with a strong interest in both IT, databases and finance.
    • Problem-solving and decision-making skills with the ability to analyse complex information to identify the core issue, appropriate action and drive resolution.
    • Experience in people management, motivating others and providing coaching to develop performance.
