Your Role: 
You will play a key role in supporting our various science teams by optimizing and increasing throughput in key processes, sourcing, maintaining and troubleshooting instrumentation, and developing relevant documentation. Fundamental knowledge of Biochemistry or Molecular Biology are required.

Outcomes

    • Enable faster data generation by supporting our protein and genomic  screening team’s efforts
    • Improve the quality and consistency of routine genomic and biochemical analysis and sample preparation to generate high-quality, accurate and dependable results
    • Contribute towards generating key data that will drive our R&D strategy

Responsibilities

    • Work within a team to determine ways to improve the efficiency of routine operations in addition to increasing capacity
    • Identify opportunities to improve routine workflows and execute experiments to justify changes
    • Use industry know-how and best practices to ensure all screening-related equipment is running efficiently and effectively
    • Work with vendors, consultants and in-house team to determine specifications and accessories for sourcing equipment, consumables, and manufacturers.
    • Support the development of protein identification assays (such as Bradford, ELISA, Western Blot….) and genomic screening assay such as DNA extractions, PCR and ddPCR
    • Anticipate experimental and screening platform needs in the context of the entire company’s goals
    • Analyse and organise data in a useful manner to communicate with various stakeholders 
    • Manage timelines and deliverables on projects
    • Develop equipment and operational budgets , including justifications for investments in new processes and equipment

Education and experience requirements

    • 5+ years post PhD or 10+ years post MS of relevant experience in an industry research lab as a process engineer, system engineer, mechanical engineer or a similar role.
    • MS or PhD in bioengineering, engineering, life sciences, or similar discipline.
    • Fundamental and applied knowledge of molecular biology and biochemical techniques is required
    • Experience with 3D Cad design software such as SolidWorks similar
    • Experience with 3D printing and machining
    • Highly experienced  with lab automation, liquid handling and implementing high throughput systems
    • Ability to troubleshoot hardware and equipment
    • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
    • Exceptional technical and problem-solving skills
    • Resourceful, eager to learn, and team-oriented, with meticulous attention to detail
    • Ability to work independently in a timely manner
