Your Role:
The Stewardship Agronomist role will be accountable for planning, managing and executing all aspects of Nobell Foods’ stewarded soybean pipeline. This position will assist in developing the technical standard operating procedures for breeding, seed and grain production programs with expectations of strengthening Nobell Foods’ stewardship
practices through the continuous introduction and improvement of processes and guidelines for effective stewarded product development. To join our team, you should be excited about:

    • Responsible for all aspects of coordination, recordation and execution of the entire breeding, seed and grain production processes according to company stewardship protocols with a focus on in-season data collection.
    • Oversee that the highest level of stewardship is conducted throughout the entire breeding, seed and grain production programs according to company standard
    • operating procedures to ensure regulatory compliance.
    • Develop training materials and train staff and external partners on stewardship protocols to ensure that all relevant parties are qualified to carry out their responsibilities relating to breeding, seed and grain production.
    • Assist in evaluating and contracting required production acres with seed and grain producers to meet stewardship requirements while maximizing yield, minimizing
    • freight costs, meeting timelines and delivering seeds/grain that meet quality specifications.
    • Perform pre-season planning duties including recruiting new seed/grain producers, field selection and qualification.
    • Develop and advise producers on programs regarding agronomic issues in
    • production fields including, weed and insect programs, and timely field inspection programs.
    • Understand species and variety characteristics, seed quality standards, and crop delivery requirements to optimize seed/grain specifications.
    • Perform field scouting and subsequent reporting to producers. Understand and advise irrigation and spraying applications with producers.
    • Coordinate and execute audit/inspection activities, as assigned.
    • Develop and maintain links between the company and external partners to achieve agreed program objectives.
    • General administrative duties, including collecting and inputting data for production contracts, in-season reports, creating new vendors, vendor invoices and pricing grower contracts throughout the year.
    • Communicate effectively and timely, through regular updates, as required.
    • Assist with in-field safety training promoting a culture of safety and stewardship throughout the supply chain.
    • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills:

    • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be detail oriented, able to work independently and perform each essential duty satisfactorily.     • Bachelor of Science degree, with an emphasis in Agronomy or related field, preferred.
    • Over 5 years of agronomy experience, with an emphasis in Agronomy or related field, preferred.
    • Have experience managing regulated field trials.
    • Excellent communication, team building, and interpersonal skills.
    • Detail-oriented, with excellent organizational, planning, and problem-solving skills.
    • Sound computer skills, which include proficiency with MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint software and willing to learn new software systems.
    • Ability to carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with company policies and applicable laws.
    • Travel up to 70% of the time.
    • Must be able to work in adverse weather conditions, i.e., heat, humidity, rain, cold, etc.
    • Must be able to walk on uneven surfaces.
    • Must be able to drive or ride in a vehicle for long periods of time.
    • Must be able to repetitively lift up to 55 lbs.
    • Must be able to ascend/descend a ladder and work safely at heights over 30 feet to inspect grain bins and production equipment.
    • Position will require significant travel between growing or processing sites and to visit various partners across the Midwest region. This also includes occasional travel to other sites or counter-cycle growing destinations.
