We create new companies from zero to one by providing the research, infrastructure, talent, and resources that companies need to rapidly innovate and scale.
We are constantly looking for talented and experienced engineers to help grow our portfolio of companies. Being at the intersection of Fintech and Blockchain, technology expertise is paramount for our new businesses and we invest deeply in ensuring that each new company has access to top engineering talent. That’s where you come in. As a Developer in Residence at Northern Labs, you will have the unique opportunity to work alongside the Northern Labs team as we build new software companies from the ground up. As you build new companies alongside our portfolio company co-founders you will have the opportunity to join them full time as a co-founder, CTO or their first engineering hire. You'll also become a part of the Northern Labs network of experienced experts and operators helping to solve technical challenges across our portfolio.
WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR
We are seeking talented full stack developers to join our growing team. As a Developer in Residence at Northern Labs, you will be responsible for building prototypes and products that leverage emerging technologies in the Fintech and Web3 spaces.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Build, ship and iterate on high-quality prototypes and products quickly.
- Build empathy for the customer and build features to solve their needs that we may never have expected or explicitly planned.
- Have a passion for your craft that drives you to improve systems and code without being explicitly told.
- Collaborate closely with other developers and business stakeholders to build highly impactful and novel solutions.
ABOUT YOU
- 2+ years of experience as a full-time software developer
- A passion for solving problems and building solutions to completion
- Built products using React, Typescript, NestJS, HTML, CSS3 and is familiar with building application backends (NodeJS)
- Experience in building mobile responsive products
- Desire and motivation to build and lead a startup within the Web3 industry
- Understanding of Git and it's related methodologies
- Conduct and participate in code reviews, promoting best practices and maintaining a high level of quality in the codebase
- Good decision making and keen eye for well designed UI/UX
- Work and collaborate effectively in a team environment as well as independently
- Good communication skills and good command of written and spoken English
- Highly motivated, self-starter
- A focused, hungry developer who shares the same vision and desire for success.
- Excited about the challenge of building a company from 0 -> 1
- At least a bachelor's degree in computer science, or a related field of study
BONUS IF YOU HAVE
- Past experience working with blockchain related technologies
- Past experience working on fintech related projects
- A demonstrated ability to learn new programming languages a big plus
- Personal projects that demonstrate your creative programming skills
- Online portfolio (public github or similar) is a plus
