Job Objective: Responsible for supporting the definition, design, development and oversight of the satellite program in the area of Satellite/Platform, ensuring timely delivery and compliance of the spacecraft bus and associated subsystems, coherence to system budgets, and overall interfacing of the spacecraft subsystems.

Reports to: Customer Program Management Office (PMO) Director

Locations: Satellite/Platform unit manufacturer facilities / Launch base when requested (on-site presence required)

This role is intended for a freelance third-party consultant.

Key accountabilities

    • Leadership: Ensure the effective achievement of functional objectives as part of the PMO Satellite/Platform engineering team. Successfully engage with the manufacturer to develop an open and collaborative spirit and ensure the continuing dedication of the manufacturer’s team.

    • Monitoring the program:
    • Provide full and continuous monitoring of the Manufacturer's activities for the Customer satellite/platform, i.e. to follow the day to day design development, unit industrialization, Service module and satellite Assembly, Integration and Test Activities at platform & satellite level, assessing its performance against specifications and requirements, identifying any potential non-compliances areas as early as possible, and also keeping a strong focus on any issues that may impact the program schedule.
    • Provide guidance to the PMO Director on satellite/platform related issues and liaise with the Space Segment Engineering section, which retains the Design Authority for the spacecraft, on any changes, modifications or waivers affecting the platform/satellite.
    • Work closely with all member’s the PMO team, to ensure that the whole team is up to date on any developments on the Platform area that may impact their areas.

    • Activities:
    • Preparation and participation in all platform unit design, manufacturing and testing review meetings
    • Preparation and participation in all platform subsystem design, manufacturing and testing review meetings
    • Preparation and participation in all satellite system design, manufacturing and testing review meetings
    • Preparation and participation to the launch campaign, LEOP and Platform in-Orbit Test Campaign

    • Management Reports: Produce accurate progress reports to provide timely feedback on the progress of the Satellite/Platform Design and AIT campaign

Qualifications, Experience & Skills

    • Minimum qualifications: MS Engineering certification or equivalent (Mechanical, Electrical, Aeronautical, etc.)

    • Minimum experience:
    • 15 years or more managing AIT programs, either on a manufacturer’s or a customer’s assignment
    • Extensive satellite / platform system design and AIT experience
    • Extensive experience on project management
