Headquartered in Menlo Park, California, Novoloop is currently scaling up to its first commercial manufacturing facility to use its patented ATOD (Accelerated Thermal Oxidative Decomposition) technology to manufacture performance materials for the footwear, electronics, and automotive industries.


Job Summary

We're seeking an Extrusion Technician to help our REX team increase productivity. The successful candidate has a bachelor's degree in science with a focus on chemistry AND a few years of industry lab experience.

What You'll Do

    • Perform defined procedures related to lab research under supervision: material preparation, chemical transfers, reactive extrusion of polymers, collection of polymer product, etc. 
    • Work within EH&S guidelines.
    • Be responsible for upkeep of the lab, including cleaning, washing, stocking, and organization.
    • Participate in (and when appropriate lead) weekly safety lab inspections. 
    • Present results at functional area meetings.
    • Maintain lab equipment, inventory levels of supplies, general lab upkeep and organization.
    • Perform routine and semi-routine scientific experiments and/or analysis. Identify operational issues.
    • Draft and/or suggest edits for SOPs in the work area. Keep batch records and write experiment summaries.
    • Perform other duties as needed by Novoloop or at the discretion of supervisors.
    • Perform all duties in keeping with Novoloop’s values, policies and all applicable regulations.

About You

    • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering + at least 1 year of industry chem lab experience; OR 4+ years chemistry technician experience (without a degree)
    • Minimal chemistry lab experience: undergraduate wet chemistry lab course; further work experience or undergrad research experience is strongly desired
    • Strongly Desired: mechanically inclined - familiar with hand tools (such as nuts, bolts, torque specs, pipe fittings, propane torches, etc)
    • Strongly Desired: Experience with isocyanates or chemicals/sensitizers with similar hazards: e.g. diazomethane, chromium, formaldehyde, isocyanates, arylhydrazines, benzylic and allylic halides, and many phenol derivatives.
    • Passionate about solving the plastic waste problem, or about sustainability in general
    • Willing to perform routine tasks and understand how they contribute to the company's mission and goals
    • Safety-minded, neat and aware of surroundings, detail oriented, level-headed
    • Must be able to lift 50lb
$30 - $45 an hour
