About Us
Our mission is to develop transformational genetic medicines utilizing novel delivery technologies, with an emphasis on diseases with significant unmet medical need. Our team is advancing multiple innovative approaches to deliver a variety of therapeutic payloads, focusing initially on gene editing in therapeutically relevant cells and tissues. Our world class scientific founders include Professor David Liu (HHMI, Broad and Harvard) and Professor Keith Joung (Arena BioWorks, formerly MGH), and we are funded with a significant capital investment by leading life science venture capital firms including Newpath Partners, Atlas Venture, F-Prime Capital, and 5AM Ventures. We believe that our technology has the potential to positively impact patients suffering from severe genetic diseases, and we are committed to building an excellent, science-driven and diverse team that is passionate about making a difference. Nvelop Therapeutics is based in Cambridge, MA.

Position Overview
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with relevant techniques such as library preparation, nucleic acid quantitation, qPCR, genomic DNA and RNA isolations, and Illumina sequencing, and will have the capability and desire to learn and apply new experimental methodologies.  The drive to execute is crucial to move us forward, and experimental rigor and scientific curiosity are key aspects of our culture!  Working closely with their supervisor, the candidate will contribute to the design of experiments, execute and document experimental work, perform laboratory support work as needed, and contribute to data analysis and communication of experimental results.

Responsibilities

    • Extract DNA and RNA from many sample types; optimize extraction methods for new sample types/workflows as required
    • Perform all aspects of NGS library preparation, including amplicon sequencing methods, RNA-seq, scRNAseq, etc.
    • Working with supervisor, select the most suitable methodology, and contribute to the design of experiments
    • Independently set up and prepare routine experiments as directed
    • Execute protocols of non-routine experiments with supervision as needed
    • Perform calculations, record and document data, analyze data using scientific and statistical methods, and communicate results
    • Lab administrative responsibilities including ordering and tracking of laboratory supplies, preparation of lab reagents, chemicals, instruments and equipment for use

Qualifications

    • Masters degree with 0 - 2 years of experience or bachelor’s with 0 - 4 years of experience in the biotechnology industry and a background in genomics or molecular biology
    • Hands on experience with DNA / RNA Isolation, amplicon PCR, library construction, Illumina sequencing, dPCR, and qPCR are preferred
    • Experience with Mammalian cell culture is preferred
    • Strong problem-solving skills are a must
    • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team are required
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced and quickly changing environment
