Position Overview
We are seeking a dynamic (Senior) Manager to join our growing Finance team.  The (Senior) Manager will be a key member of the team and will support and assist in all aspects of financial planning, accounting, and reporting. The responsibilities include but are not limited to supporting the Company’s budgeting and forecasting process, general accounting functions including month end close, preparing reporting packages for internal and external stakeholders, as well as assisting with accounts payable tasks. This is a new position that will interact with all levels of management.  This is a hands-on position and the ability to multitask and work with others is essential.

Reporting to the Head of Finance, the (Senior) Manager will be a key member of the growing finance team and will be responsible for all day-to-day activities related to finance and accounting operations.

Job Responsibilities:


    • Financial Accounting & Reporting:
    • Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
    • Ensure financial statements are prepared in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and in line with public company standards.
    • Prepare periodic variance analysis reports for internal review and to provide insights to senior management for decision-making purposes.

    • Budgeting & Forecasting:
    • Help with the periodic forecasting and annual budgeting process in collaboration with department heads.
    • Monitor budget performance and provide recommendations for cost optimization.
    • Prepare monthly budget vs actual reports to share with the department heads to understand any variances and change in spending pattern.

    • Special Projects & Initiatives:
    • Identify, recommend, and implement system and process improvements to enhance efficiency and scalability of accounting operations.
    • Assist with AP and Payroll processing as needed.
    • Assist with preparation of reporting packages for the internal and external stakeholders.
    • Manage and assist with technical accounting matters (adoption of lease guidance, financing transactions, and other new accounting guidance as applicable).
    • Assist with the management of the equity-based systems (Carta) from granting of new awards, coordinating information flow with human resources/payroll, shared-based compensation calculations and financial reporting.

    • Internal Control & Compliance:
    • Assist with coordination of external audit activities related to the annual audit.
    • Coordinate with our tax preparers with the preparation and filing of annual federal and state returns.
    • Assist with the annual 409a valuation.
    • Review, recommend and support implementation of process improvement initiatives that enhance the efficiency and quality of the financial planning and financial accounting reporting workstreams.

Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
    • 5+ years of experience in public accounting and/or biotech preferred.
    • CPA required.
    • Understanding of Sarbanes-Oxley (“SOX”) documentation and requirements.
    • Basic knowledge of accounting principles (“GAAP”).
    • Experience with ERP systems (NetSuite preferred).
    • Strong verbal, written, and technology communication skills successfully working with all levels of the organization;
    • High proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (PowerPoint, Excel, and Word).
    • Proven effectiveness in time management, attention to detail, and organizational skills.
    • Proven history working with sensitive information and maintaining confidentiality.
    • Willing to work as part of a team or independently.
This is a full-time role requiring at least 4 days of in-office presence at our Technology Square location.

Position title and salary will be commensurate with experience.

Additional Requirements:
Full time in-person work is necessary for our laboratory-based positions. We work in facilities that require that all individuals working on-site are vaccinated for COVID-19. Position Title and Salary will be commensurate with Experience
