At Kraken Technologies we're looking to revolutionise the energy system to make power cheaper, greener, and better for people around the world. Our tech platform ‘Kraken’ is already licensed to support 50 million customer accounts globally, and we aim to serve 100 million by 2027.

Octopus’ cloud software technology platform Kraken Tech offers utility clients end-to-end customer management through one simple solution aimed at helping utilities and their customers transition into a decarbonised future.

Our team

We’re currently charging our platform to serve the water and broadband industries and have created a new team; Kraken Utilities. This team has already signed 4 clients; Severn Trent, Leep, Portsmouth Water, and Cuckoo.

We are looking to bring on a part-time intern to work on a specific project to help us scope out the water asset space, looking closely at how water companies monitor their infrastructure and assets (water pipes, sensors etc). Your role will be to discover what opportunities are available in this industry, and what the shortfalls may be.

You will work closely with our growth and strategy team, reporting into the growth lead. The role will allow a high level of autonomy, so we are looking for someone who is a self-starter and can work proactively.

We are aiming for this person to start ASAP and will work part-time for 1-2 days a week (hours can be flexible around your study) for a duration of 3 months. Our aim will be to have you coming into our London office once a fortnight to collaborate with the team in person - although this is not a requirement.

Location: Remote / occasionally London office
Duration: Part-time 1-2 days a week for 3 months
Pay: London Living Wage

What you'll do:

    • You will take ownership of a new project to scope out the water asset space, helping us understand what opportunities are available in this area.
    • It will also be important for you to analyse the potential pitfalls and pain points within the water asset space.
    • Naturally your role will involve a lot of research and communication with team members.
    • You will present your findings back to the Growth Lead, and this information may be used to directly influence how we decide to proceed.

What you'll need:

    • We’re looking for someone who is currently studying their MBA in a suitable business related field.
    • Ideally this person will have existing consulting or finance experience.
    • A big bonus would be some water industry experience.
    • Someone who is available to work part-time (1-2 days a week) during their study.
    • A passion for sustainability and renewable energy, a love for problem-solving, an eye for detail and an interest in trying new things.
    • Above all, we’re looking for someone who thrives in a dynamic environment and who isn’t afraid to think differently and challenge the status quo.
