We’re looking for a Financials Manager to join Octopus Energy for Business (OEB) and support our expanding business energy supply.

We’re seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Financials Manager to join our team. In this role, you’ll be responsible for driving the company's business forecasting processes, analysing margins, and providing actionable insights to optimise financial performance. You’ll collaborate closely with decision makers, finance teams, and business units to ensure that financial strategies align with the company's growth objectives.
This is a hybrid role based out of our London office. You’ll be expected to spend at least 3 days a week in the office so that you can build relationships and collaborate with colleagues across the business.
What You'll do:
- Provide consistent portfolio level reporting for OEB to determine overall net margins. This will include revenue, cost of sales, debt and operational expenditure.
- Lead the development and management of the company’s forecast, ensuring accuracy and alignment with strategic goals.
- Work with the team to interrogate the entire cost stack to influence pricing decisions.
- Develop margin optimisation strategies, including pricing adjustments, cost reductions, and process improvements.
- Improve accuracy of gross margin calculations in partnership with Finance and Pricing teams.
- Lead meetings with colleagues and senior management to provide clear options in the decision making process.
- Work closely with the pricing team to influence key decisions to ensure we provide customers with a wide range of tariffs which are set with a conscious view of outturned margins.
- Provide monthly reporting packs to monitor different aspects of performance including budgets and variance analysis.
- Work closely with business units to gather key inputs and assumptions for accurate forecasting.
What You'll Need:
- Ideally 2+ years of financial, commercial or pricing experience in the energy industry
- Have previous experience with reporting margins
- A track record of demonstrating financial acumen in commercial roles
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to summarise key findings to senior management
- Enjoy solving complex problems
- Enjoy taking responsibility for an area
- Can summarise findings and communicate in a clear and targeted manner
- Like to learn about new and complicated areas
- Enjoy constantly streamlining and introducing new processes
