Octopus Energy Generation (OEGen) is leading the way in disrupting the renewable generation market, bringing new and exciting business models to fruition as well as continuing to invest heavily in renewable projects at a global scale. We take a fresh approach to development; working with partners, landowners, businesses, and investors to deliver new and innovative business models to help drive down the cost of energy. We believe in a world where the cheapest electron is the greenest electron, but also the most locally consumed electron. We know that the energy system as it is today doesn’t work, but we’re here to change that. Our focus is currently on the UK market, but like any highly ambitious business, we have an eye on the global opportunity too.  

Our recent investments in generation and energy have set the stage for our next phase of dramatic growth and now we’re looking to expand our OEGen team here in London. We’re looking for a Commercial Innovation Analyst in search of a fast moving and enriching role to join us at the heart of the green energy revolution. 

What you'll do

    • Lead and own the investment modelling for all innovative business models, across both wind and solar in the UK. But importantly, we don’t want a robot! You’ll work closely with the Project Innovation team to understand and help inform what works best. 
    • Lead the reporting on the existing assets – this is a fairly blank piece of paper so feel free to be creative with it. 
    • Drive the origination of new project opportunities by taking ownership of this early-stage development activity. 
    • Work in parallel with our colleagues in the investment team to help build the business case around our innovation projects. 
    • Provide fresh thinking to innovation-driven renewables. 
    • Working closely with the Project Innovation team and Head of Innovation, play a defining role in helping unlock the next stage of narrative for OEGen.

What you'll need

    • Naturally comfortable building financial models. 
    • Highly data literate. You can make sense of lots of data and shape it into a coherent story
    • An ability to generate fresh ideas, and new models and ways of thinking in an ever-changing environment
    • A very high level of commercial awareness, creativity, curiosity, enthusiasm, and agility
    • Ability to be a self-starter, you’re proactive and happy to take ownership of your work
    • Experience in an energy, renewables or investment environment is preferable, but not a necessity
    • A passion for sustainability  
    • An awesome communicator! Octopus operates a very flat structure so you will be exposed to all areas of the business - being able to communicate internally in an effective manner is critical
