Octopus Energy has grown exponentially in its short history. It is now a complex multi-billion turnover international group, which participates in multiple industry verticals including retail utilities, utilities management, generation, EV leasing and software sales.

We are committed to innovation, sustainability, and customer satisfaction. As part of our growth strategy, we are implementing NetSuite and a number of supplementary Finance applications e.g. OCR, AP Management to streamline our finance operations and improve efficiency. We are seeking a Finance Systems Business Analyst to play a key role in these initiatives.

Its legacy business management applications are at the limit of their capacity and capability. A new enterprise resource planning tool (ERP) is required to both provide a finance back bone for the Group, and to integrate information flows and insights across the group. Oracle’s NetSuite SAAS platform has been selected for this task.  The process to select supplementary applications is underway.

This role will be pivotal in ensuring the ongoing success of Finance and its systems for the Group and is key to maintaining appropriate controls that reflect the Group’s segregation of duties.  It will also be pivotal in defining streamlined processes & procedures across the Group.

Working in Octopus’ Finance Systems & Transformation team, you will be responsible for leading & performing end to end testing of Financial applications and transformation projects. You will also be responsible for building developing test management best practice, writing test strategies and supporting business stakeholders with testing.

Finance sits at the heart of any organisation and thus close coordination and integration with other teams and tools within Octopus is frequent.  You will be required to test new systems managed both inhouse and by 3rd parties.

What you'll do

    • Deliver estimates of the testing effort needed for the all Finance System implementations, including integrations with internal and external systems
    • Plan, develop, and execute the test strategy and plan
    • Define, design and execute all testing work, including Functional Testing, System Integration Testing, Regression testing and support User Acceptance Testing (undertaken by subject matter experts situated within the business).
    • Analyse complex information and write concise, high quality test cases and prepare test data to support System Integration, End to End, Regression and User Acceptance Testing
    • Execute and maintain manual tests, providing accurate estimation of time to complete the test activities
    • Document queries and defects and provide adequate data to allow rapid resolution.
    • Review testing requirements for change requests, assessing the impact on test plans and schedules.
    • Lead & participate in daily stand up meetings, defect triage calls
    • Coordinate with internal teams, 3rd party suppliers, and system integrators around defect management.
    • Provide key metrics that demonstrate a clear view of the testing cycles to a range of stakeholders. In case of bottlenecks, you will help plan and identify a solution with the project team.
    • Monitor, measure, control and report to management on Test progress, Product quality, Test results and Test Completion.

What you'll need

    • Proven experience working as a Test Analyst, with strong knowledge of test methodologies, tools, and processes
    • 5+ years’ test management experience
    • Previous ERP testing experience is essential – Oracle NetSuite would be preferred, but we’d still love to hear from you if you’ve been exposed to other systems such as Microsoft or SAP
    • Experience managing and executing the testing of complex business systems, including integrations, data migration, and cutover
    • Full range of Test skills spanning Functional, Regression, UAT and E2E testing
    • Experience developing test deliverables like test plans, test cases, test data, and traceability matrices
    • Relevant and demonstrable experience of managing relationships with business and external stakeholders
    • A proven track record of delivering on time
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

    • Useful Experience
    • Understanding of financial processes, including accounting principles
    • Familiarity with financial software and systems (e.g,, Accounts Payable Applications: OCR, Invoice matching software)
If this sounds like you then we'd love to hear from you.
