Senior UX Researcher

We are looking for a passionate UX researcher to help us focus on our users. In this role, you will create understanding and empathy around user needs, stated and unstated, for our entire team including designers, product managers, and engineers. You will do so by conducting primary research, exploring the behaviors and motivations of our users through methods like field visits, ethnography, surveys, usability testing, and logs analysis. Your research will help us create useful, usable, and delightful new products and experiences for people as well as continually innovating on our existing products. 

Reporting to the Director of Product Design, you will partner with product designers to inspire change at all stages of product development by delivering compelling, written, in-person and visual presentations on your findings.

The Product Design team is growing and this is an opportunity to help establish best practices and methodologies for UX research at Olo. 

What You’ll Be Doing

    • Conduct independent research on multiple aspects of products and experiences.
    • Collect and analyze user behavior through lab studies, field visits, ethnography, surveys, benchmark studies, server logs and online experiments (A/B testing).
    • Work with Designers, Product Managers, Engineers to prioritize research opportunities in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment.
    • Understand and incorporate complex technical and business requirements into research.
    • Advocate research findings to diverse audiences through written reports and in-person presentations.
    • Team with designers, product managers, and engineers on rapid prototyping.
    • Work across multiple products.
    • Conduct research on design system.
    • Grow test participant pool.
    • Conduct field research to validate personas.
    • Provide expertise regarding research approaches and analysis.

What We’ll Expect From You

    • Portfolio of your work.
    • Experience applying an array of methodologies and analyses to focus teams on the right problems.
    • Desire to develop empathy for users of our products
    • Knowledge of UX design principles, processes, and best practices 
    • Knowledge of ADA guidelines and best practices
    • Excellent collaboration and communication skills
    • BS or advanced degree in relevant field of study (e.g. Anthropology, HCI, Human Factors).
    • Legal right to work in the U.S.

Nice to Have

    • Has read Don Norman’s Design of Everyday Things
    • Experience with Design Thinking methodologies and rapid prototyping

COVID-19 Impact

Olo is committed to the well-being of candidates, employees and our community. The  Olo NYC Headquarters will be closed for the foreseeable future because of the global outbreak of COVID-19. While an in-person interview is typical for many roles at Olo, we will conduct interviews via video conferencing while our HQ is closed.
