The Task At Hand: The Product Development Intern will assist in various aspects of product development, including managing shipping labels, reviewing consumer complaints, conducting sensory tasting events, testing samples, reviewing product labels, and coordinating procurement and inventory tasks.
 
In This Role, You Will:
•         Manage shipping labels and scheduling pickups 
•         Assist with document control change forms 
•         Review consumer complaints on a monthly basis, note recurring issues, and provide a summary report to the Product Development, QA, and Operations team to catch any persistent issues early 
•         Assist the Product Development team as needed with support for sensory tasting events, including the analytical and physical evaluation and sample preparation 
•         Follow established testing protocols, help recruit internal tasters, execute tastings, and document results accurately and in a timely manner 
•         Support the Product Development Team with registering all benchtop samples into a database with appropriate analytics including Ph, Brix, Viscosity, and other product parameters 
•         Review production samples 1-2 times a month, within 1 week of receipt, on a rotational basis with other members of the Product Development team 
•         Review product nutrition and ingredient information for product labels 
•         Assist with building and maintenance of raw material and finished product specifications including the input of ingredients into the RM Smartsheet, Tracegains, and possibly into labeling software under the direction of PD Team members 
•         Support the coordination of buying, receipt, and review of samples from competitors for testing and evaluation 
•         Procure raw materials for PD Team trials and packaging and helping PD Team members maintain inventory 
•         Assist in organizing and coordinating shelf-life studies OFarm Products
•         Other tasks as assigned
 
In This Role, You’ll Bring With You:
•         Currently enrolled in undergraduate or graduate school studying food science, microbiology, chemistry, culinary science, or other related field. Recent graduates are welcome as well!
•         Located within a 50-mile distance of Montgomery Alabama preferred
•         Experience and comfortability working in spreadsheets  
•         Good organizational and time management skills 
•         Experience in sensory studies preferred
•         Fine attention to detail 
•         Able to work both independently and in a collaborative group setting 
•         Able to be a team player, be punctual, and follow instructions 
•         Able to keep work area clean and organized 
•         Excellent verbal and written communication skills 
•         Superior organizational skills 
•         Able to think quickly and independently, conversationally agile 
•         Solid knowledge of Microsoft Suite, Outlook, Slack, and other professional platforms 
•         Up to 10% travel required: Although this role is a remote work-from-home position, we “Farmers” do meet as a company and/or as a department a few times a year
•         Genuinely passionate about improving childhood nutrition for a healthier and happier planet
•         Desire to contribute to a dynamic high-growth, purpose-driven work environment
•         Previous exposure to cross-functional work between Sustainability and People Operations is preferred
•         Must reside in the United States to be considered for this position

Duration & Compensation:
•         $22.00 per hour
•         Non-Exempt, Hourly, Part-Time
•         The internship is planned to run from Summer 2024 to Fall 2024, with more hours during the Summer and fewer during the Fall (to accommodate a school schedule during the Fall semester).
o   Summer: up to 25  hours per week
o   Fall: up to 16 hours per week
