We’re looking for highly experienced product and/or regulatory counsel to support Opendoor’s “adjacent services,” which currently include a mortgage brokerage corporate affiliate licensed in Arizona and Texas and affiliated title companies in a variety of states. In this role, you’ll partner with product development and operational business teams at Opendoor to ensure our mortgage and title products, marketing collateral, and processes comply with applicable financial service and licensing laws, as well as protect customer privacy and company IP.

Opendoor operates at the intersection of the technology and residential real estate industries, and is expanding to new markets at a rapid pace. Our adjacent services are intended to complement Opendoor’s core seller and buyer services and be a best in class option for those customers.  We look for a nimble go-getters with the ability to build rapport with a variety of business teams and calibrate compliant advice and strategy based on a practical approach to risk tolerance. We also think collegiality and a good sense of humor is key a rapidly growing and changing environment.

Ideal candidates will have at least 8 years of legal experience, including as in-house counsel at a company that offers mortgage brokerage, origination, and/or title or escrow services. We may consider law firm candidates with significant experience advising such companies. An understanding of residential real estate regulations and industry practices is highly desirable for this role.

Please have a J.D. from an accredited law school and be licensed in good standing to practice law in California or Texas as applicable to your preference of working in our San Francisco or Dallas-Fort Worth office.
