At Ouster, we build sensors and tools for engineers, roboticists, and researchers, so they can make the world safer and more efficient. We've transformed LIDAR from an analog device with thousands of components to an elegant digital device powered by one chip-scale laser array and one CMOS sensor. The result is a full range of high-resolution LIDAR sensors that deliver superior imaging at a dramatically lower price. Our advanced sensor hardware and vision algorithms are used in autonomous cars, drones and many other applications. If you’re motivated by solving big problems, we’re hiring key roles across the company and need your help!

    • Perform trade studies, impact and risk analyses for proposed requirement changes
    • Conduct and document system-level analyses, including proof of concept studies and prototyping activities to support requirements generation
    • Drive the functional development from system to component level in integrated cooperation within a cross-functional team
    • Develop and execute V&V plans and ensure requirements traceability (“V” model implementation)
    • Author, decompose, and iterate the technical requirements with the development teams and ensure their testability
    • Provide frequent and clear communication to design engineers, peers, and external stakeholders

Minimum Qualifications

    • Experience with systems engineering for complex products such as lidar, electro-optical, or imaging systems
    • Exposure to Requirements Management for establishing traceability using RM tools such as JAMA or MBSE tools.
    • Ability to motivate others, drive collaboration, and quickly resolve conflicts
    • Work successfully in cross-functional teams, especially across organizational and geographical boundaries

Desirable Qualifications

    • Experience with functionally safe product requirements (ASIL, SIL)
    • Data analysis and visualization capabilities (JMP, Python scripting, MySql, etc)
    • Familiarity with Model Based System Engineering methodologies and tools (e.g. SysML, Enterprise Architect, OPM etc.)
    • Show out-of-box thinking and invent creative solutions for challenging problems
