Outer is a venture-backed startup based in Santa Monica, California on a mission to get people outside and inspire healthier, happier, and more fulfilling lives by creating innovative outdoor furniture.


This role will be an Operations Specialist on the Outer team and will be primarily involved in supply chain and fulfillment operations.  Areas of responsibility will include order processing, facilitating product importing, data analysis, and managing requests from teammates working in sales and customer success. Reporting into the Vice President of Operations, this role is critical to ensuring that all customers have a fast, smooth, and delightful delivery experience.

Given the stage of Outer and the ever-evolving business strategy and needs of the company, this role will change over time. New and exciting opportunities arise every day and we are looking for candidates who will embrace and be motivated by that flexibility.


    • Process new orders for input into our fulfillment system
    • Allocate inventory to orders based on a variety of factors
    • Request pick-up and delivery services from UPS and other freight delivery partners
    • Communicate with our 3PL to manage orders and exceptions
    • Monitor the status of orders in transit
    • Diagnose and resolve issues that arise in fulfillment and delivery
    • Process returns and damaged shipments
    • Communicate with our importing logistics partners
    • Organize and share importing documentation
    • Help to build and improve our systems and processes
    • Collect data and performing analyses of the performance of aspects of our supply chain
    • Collaborate closely with other teammates in Operations and throughout the company


    • Consistent, reliable, and rapid processing of customer orders
    • Minimal errors through attention to detail and thorough building and managing of robust systems designed to prevent and detect errors before they affect the customer
    • Clear communication with vendors and teammates
    • Continuous improvement in all aspects of fulfillment and supply chain responsibilities


    • 1-5 years experience working in an operations role
    • 2- or 4-year degree preferred but not required; advanced degree is a plus
    • Experience working in a team-based office environment required
    • Experience working in a startup company highly preferred
