Job Overview

The Junior Cost Analysis Support role will provide critical financial and analytical assistance to the Finance team. This position focuses on ensuring data accuracy, producing timely cost and variance reports, and supporting business decision-making through Excel and Power BI reporting. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, a keen eye for detail, and proven proficiency in data handling and visualization.

Key Responsibilities

Data Collection & Uploads

    • Gather cost data from ERP, general ledger, and supplier files.
    • Upload/ingest data into approved repositories (e.g., SharePoint/Power BI datasets) following proper file formats and naming conventions.

Data Quality & Reconciliation

    • Validate, clean, and reconcile data against the general ledger.
    • Investigate and resolve discrepancies with Finance and Operations before reporting.

Excel Analysis & Modelling

    • Build and maintain Excel templates (lookups, pivots, formulas).
    • Support month-end processes through cost breakdowns and variance tracking.

Power BI Reporting

    • Create and update dashboards with accurate measures, visuals, and filters.
    • Schedule refreshes and document data sources, metrics, and assumptions.

Cost/Variance Insights

    • Produce weekly and monthly cost/variance reports.
    • Provide concise commentary on key drivers compared to budget/forecast.

Stakeholder Support & Documentation

    • Respond to ad-hoc data and reporting requests.
    • Maintain reporting SOPs and log change requests for continuous improvement.

Key Requirements

    • Tertiary qualifications in Finance, Accounting, Data Analytics, or related field (preferred).
    • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (lookups, pivots, advanced formulas).
    • Experience with Power BI (datasets, measures, dashboards).
    • Attention to detail with strong reconciliation and problem-solving skills.
    • Ability to work with large datasets and multiple stakeholders.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
