We are an Australian-based financial services company, looking for a skilled Accountant / Bookkeeper to help maintain our client's financial records, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, bank reconciliation and other accounting-related tasks. As an Accountant / Bookkeeper, you will be responsible for managing the day-to-day financial transactions and ensuring the accuracy of our financial records. You will work closely with your accounting team in Australia to maintain financial data, reconcile accounts, and support the overall financial health of the clients we work with.
Responsibilities:
- Record daily financial transactions, including sales, purchases, and expenses, into accounting software.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, ledgers, and journals.
- Reconcile bank statements, credit card statements, and other financial accounts regularly.
- Process accounts payable and receivable, including verifying invoices and following up on outstanding payments.
- Prepare and process payroll, including calculating taxes and deductions.
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements, reports, and summaries.
- Ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures.
- Assist in the preparation of BAS /IAS
- Assist in the year-end financial audit and tax preparation.
- Provide financial information and support to management as needed.
- Stay up-to-date with accounting regulations and best practices.
Requirements and skills:
- Proven work experience as an Accountant / Bookkeeper or in a similar role for an Australian Company or Financial firm. (Minimum 2 years)
- XERO certified for bookkeeping and payroll.
- Familiar with BAS and IAS preparation.
- Ability to manage multiple client accounts concurrently
- Experience with commission reconciliation is a plus
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero) and MS Excel.
- Solid understanding of basic bookkeeping and accounting payable/receivable principles
- Proven ability to calculate, post and manage accounting figures and financial records
- Data entry skills, along with a knack for numbers
- Hands-on experience with spreadsheets and proprietary software
- Proficiency in English and in MS Office
- Customer service orientation and negotiation skills
- A high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
- BS degree in Finance, Accounting or Business Administration
