Work across three locations just out of Taupo, all three Farms located on the same road.
 
The Opportunity
This is a job with variety, join a combined total of 3 dairy farms, Endurance, Quest and Discovery during our busy calving season, relieving other calf rearers.  You’ll have a great work life balance as this is on a 6/2 roster.
 
You will assist with rearing all heifer replacements and bobby calves, while they are housed.  Calf feeding is a twice daily requirement, and dependant on seasonal requirements, so you will need to be flexible.
 
Ideally, you’d also be happy to jump in and help when needed to milk cows, this is dependent on staff numbers.
 
This is a drive in/drive out position, so you’ll have reliable transport.
 
The fixed term contract will be from mid-July to November 2024
 
The Farm’s
 All three farms are on the same road.
 
Endurance Dairy: is a dairy farm that’s tucked away in the central plateau as part of Pāmu’s Taupo Pastoral Complex.  Endurance has a twice a day milking operation with 830 cows milked through a 54-bail rotary shed.
 
Quest Dairy: is a 430-ha block milking approximately 900 cows through a 54 bail rotary shed. Located in the gorgeous Central Plateau and mere minutes away from one of the most desirable outdoor-living locations in the country, you’ll be able to do what you love in a supported environment.
 
Discovery Dairy: is located in close distance to Taupo and is approximately 300 effective ha, which will milk 700 cows through a 54-bail rotary.
 
About You
You will need to have:
 
•                The ability to work unsupervised
•                An exceptional attitude to health and safety and animal welfare
•                Preferred calf rearing experience or stock experience
•                Able to lift 20 kg
•                Effective communication skills, a good eye for detail and be punctual and reliable
•                Take pride in their work and surrounding environment
•                Restricted or full driver’s license
