Farm Manager opportunity ideally suited to up and coming 2IC’s or new farm managers to cut their teeth and learn the ropes of running a successful farming business. This vacancy will initially be open to internal applicants only.
We are looking for a highly motivated, energetic, details focused and performance driven individual to join our Pāmu Southland team as the Farm Manager of Mt Hamilton Station. Under the guidance of an interim Farm Manager, Mt Hamilton Station has been building a solid foundation over the past 2 years and is now in a position to progress to the next level of performance – Are you the Farm Manager who can take us there?
You’ll have solid animal management experience and an eye for detail for animal performance as well as process improvement skills. You’ll execute the plans for the farm and add value by bringing your own expertise and perspective. You’ll have the support of the Senior Business Manager and other colleagues as you settle in to the job and work to the plan. It’s all sitting there, ready to go – turn this into reality! We’re looking for an individual with the following skills and traits:
· Strong, logical decision-making skills
· Positive attitude and drive
· Competence in using recording software and technology (Farmax, FarmIQ would be a plus)
· Committed to high standards of Health and Safety, Animal welfare, environmental management and farm presentation and upkeep.
· Open minded and comfortable with operating in a changing business environment
· Passion for farming and an ability to bring others along on your vision
· Current and full NZ drivers licence
Mt Hamilton Station is currently 1,800ha effective which is made up of 600ha flat to rolling country along Chewing’s road and the Te Anau Mossburn Highway and 1,200ha of tussock hill country. It is running 1,500 MA Hinds, 500 Calving cows plus replacements and 250 dairy beef calves. It is located 15 minutes from Mossburn (primary and secondary schooling is in Te Anau or Lumsden), 40 minutes from Te Anau and 90 minutes from Queenstown and Invercargill. Outdoor activities abound with great hunting and fishing, plus a rugby club at Mossburn, a good local dog trial club, and a soon to be formed social cricket club.
Pāmu offers a competitive salary plus benefits such as medical insurance, death and disability insurance, etc. We are currently constructing a brand new 165 sqm 3-bedroom house on the farm which is due to be completed around early – mid spring. As a result, we will provide short term accommodation available in a recently refurbished 3-bedroom, double glazed house on the farm next door (5-minute drive away) while the new house construction is being completed. Pāmu will pay for the relocation costs associated with moving from the temporary accommodation provided into the new residence.
