Develop your dairying skills and work in the gorgeous Central Plateau in this Dairy Production Manager role.
The Opportunity
You will be a good communicator, have a demonstrated ability to meet targets, be enthusiastic and feel comfortable in setting a good example for others. Your day-to-day activities will involve bringing the cows in for milking, doing the milking, shifting both the cows and the young stock, etc. You would also support the Farm Manager in the day-to-day planning and running of the farm.
As 2IC, you will take on a degree of responsibility for:
·         Feed allocation and budgeting.
·         Animal health and breeding.
·         Animal records.
·         Staff guidance and supervision.
The Farm
Mayflower Dairy Unit is a dairy farm that is fully organic production milking 700 cows through a 54 bail rotary. We are one of the largest dairy complexes in New Zealand.
About You
Along with a positive attitude, self-motivation and initiative, you will have:
·         Minimum 3-4 years dairy farming experience
·         First class attitude to Health and Safety and Animal Welfare
·         The ability to work unsupervised in a team environment
·         A desire and ability to lead and support your co-workers, including when the Farm Manager is away
·         Computer and technical skills and a willingness to learn
·         Excellent time and communication skills
·         Current and full NZ drivers licence
