Join our team at Discovery Dairy, milking 700 cows through a 54-bail rotary on 300 effective ha farm.
The Opportunity
You will be a team leader at Discovery Dairy Farm, working on a fixed-term basis over the calf rearing season. This will be a fixed-term role from mid-July to November 2024.
You will assist with rearing 200 replacement calves on farm over the season up to a weaning weight of 100kg come November/December. The biggest thing you need is empathy, patience, and respect for animals. You will need to show regard for animal welfare and the Five Freedoms.
You’ll have great work-life balance as the team works to a 6/2 roster. This is a drive in and drive out opportunity.
The Farm
Discovery is located in close distance to Taupo and is approximately 300 effective ha, which will milk 700 cows through a 54-bail rotary.
About You
You will have a positive attitude and good foundational calf rearing experience to be able lead the team of calf rearers at Discovery.
You will have:
· 1-2 years calf rearing experience (preferred)
· An exceptional attitude to health and safety and animal welfare
· The ability to lift 20 kg
· Be punctual and reliable with reliable transport a must
· The ability to work unsupervised
