Central Farm Services – Workshop /
Permanent - Off Farm
Have you always been intrigued by how things work? Do you have a creative approach to practical issues? Are able to engineer mechanical solutions to on-farm challenges?
We’re looking for a Mechanic for our Central Farm Services unit at Pastoral complex in Taupo. We service and repair farm equipment and vehicles from Pāmu’s 20+ dairy and livestock farms in the Taupo region. We also service equipment and vehicles for farming operations external to our network. Working in the workshop with a tight knit, good-humoured team, you’ll also go out in the field on occasion to chat with farm staff about challenges specific to their farm and brainstorm possible solutions – then see them come to life in our engineering department.
You’ll be a good fit for this role if you enjoy working as part of a team – supporting (and being supported by) your fellow mechanics and engineers in the operation, servicing, maintenance and repair of farm machinery. Being a customer facing role, you’ll be able to listen to our customers and draw upon your experience to make repairs and/or suggestion solutions. We’re committed to quality here at Pāmu so your track record of robust repair and improvements will help you fit right in.
You may have a specialization that is outside of farming – that’s okay! We’d still love to hear from you and have a chat about how your skills can transfer to our context.
We’re in growth mode which means that you’ll enjoy a full schedule with loads of variety and plenty of scope to learn and grow. And have a good laugh with your team along the way.
There’s room for this role to grow into a 2IC type of position if you feel inclined – so if you’d like to join us for this role and want to progress to assist with the day to day running of the business, don’t hesitate to express your interest. This is not a requirement.
We use AroFlo software to manage our job scheduling as well as inventory. You update the app on a tablet in real time which is a huge timesaver. We’re happy to teach our successful candidate how to use the software.
If you’re looking for variety, want to join a positive, tight knit team, and the chance to grow and develop your skills, this could be the role for you. If you’re out of the area, we’re happy to chat about assistance with relocation.
Applications close 6 December 2020. We may progress quickly if a qualified candidate comes in early so don't hesitate to get your details through!
