Dairy Farm Assistant - Renown Dairy Unit - Taupo
Waikato - Central Plateau - Reporoa, New Zealand /
Dairy Operations – Dairy /
Permanent - On Farm
Are you our next team member? We’re looking for a Dairy Assistant to join a high performing team of eight to work, learn and develop together.
This is a progressive dairy farm, as evidenced by our recent status as finalists in the Waikato Balance Farm Environment awards. We are committed to our staff, our animals, and the environment. You’ll instantly fit in with your respect for health and safety, excellent animal husbandry skills, and your commitment to environmentally friendly farming practices.
We milk once a day and have an excellent roster (6/2, 6/2, 6/3) which means that you’ll have work-life balance that can be hard to find in the dairy business. You’ll also have variety in your day to day work in cooperation with the rest of the team. You’ll bring the cows in for milking, milk the herd, shift the cows and the young stock, set up paddocks for grazing, etc.
We provide high quality PPE to our farm staff and have a robust health and safety regime. You’ll work with well-maintained, up to date farm equipment. Once you start, we’ll assess your competency and provide training where needed for the farm Ute, tractor, two wheeler, etc., to aid you in completing your tasks.
Renown is located between Taupo and Rotorua. 1400 cows are milked once a day through a 60 bail rotary shed that has a vast array of technology to help monitor & measure overall performance. The farm is set on 640 ha of varying terrain.
You will bring:
· Eagerness to learn
· Preferably one year’s dairy farming experience
· Effective communication skills
· A can do attitude
· Ability to ride a two wheel motorcycle will be an advantage (training will be provided)
· First class attitude to Health and Safety and Animal Welfare
· Self-motivation, initiative and a passion for dairy farming
· Restricted or full driver’s licence
Comfortable & well-maintained farm accommodation is available, and we offer a competitive remuneration package including salary, health benefits, and more!
