Rangitaiki Station is one of Pāmu’s largest livestock business units in the Central Plateau.   It’s a high performing, flagship farm both within our organisation and in the agricultural community.  We’re looking for a Farm Business Manager to join us on our journey towards transformative strategic change initiatives.  You’ll also have scope to identify / strategize the future direction for this dynamic property.

Rangitaiki is a largely flat, pumice farm based about 35 minutes east of Taupo.  It consists of 9,700 ha 8,400 ha in livestock farming.  There are currently 7,500 breeding hinds, 9000 ewes, 900 breeding cows, and 4000 bulls.  We’ve recently completed a transition to a bull beef operation and look forward to the next phase of our strategic change which is transitioning our traditional beef herd to a dairy beef herd with once-bred heifers.

We’ll be looking to you to help us set future strategic direction for this robust, diverse agri-environment so there’s plenty of room for you to make your mark.

As a progressive and curious livestock pro, you’ll enjoy being exposed to all sorts of different farming systems from deer to sheep to beef to agronomy to cash cropping.  With Pāmu’s commitment to environmental sustainability, you’ll be at the leading edge of initiatives that will make a massive difference to the agriculture sector in New Zealand.  This farm also hosts many national and international visitors (from school groups to Ministers to agribusinesses) to learn more about the various systems in place at Rangitaiki so feeling at ease with visitors and being able to speak to all levels of stakeholders is important.

There’s a strong, positive team culture at Rangitaiki and we’re looking for a positive people leader to come on-board and continue to support and develop this team of 20+ individuals.

Working for Pāmu, you’ll have access to specialist advisors in agronomy, environment, animals, and business planning.  Due to the size and complexity of the property and the role, we’ll be looking for someone with experience managing a sizeable budget ($65million+) as well as familiarity with farming and finance software.

We have an excellent remuneration package and this role comes with a four bedroom home.
