The Opportunity
Managing a Station of this size and stock mix is a rare opportunity, and this one has only come about as our current Farm Manager is moving onto their next challenge after sixteen years in the role. 

Step into a leadership role, working with a dedicated team, in this supportive environment you’ll get plenty of opportunity to learn and develop your skills in business management, people leadership and drive transformation within a large-scale operation committed to production principles.

You’ll manage a team of up to eight people and be focused on building and growing their skills to help execute on day-to-day management, leading from the front and driving a positive inclusive on farm culture of success. 

You will contribute to a business strategy focused on production and profit, with a focus on core farming principles, growing dry matter, and converting it into production through good pasture management and feed budgeting techniques to take this property to the next level.

Key responsibilities include:

·           Plan and coordinate structured stock rotations and managing overall farm performance, physical and financial
·           Leadership in health, safety, and wellness on the farm, driving a positive culture of risk awareness
·           Collaborating and communicating with the Business Manager on strategic planning and budgets
·           Building and maintaining robust rural networks
·           Being an ambassador for Pāmu's brand reputation within the community 

This role also gives you an opportunity for hands-on familiarisation with Pāmu systems and processes. You'll gain proficiency in managing your own Farmax file and accurately recording data into FarmIQ.
 

The Farm
Situated just 10 minutes north-west of Mossburn, Centre Hill Station enjoys a convenient location within a 40-minute drive from Te Anau and an hour from Gore or Queenstown. 

Covering over 4,000 hectares, this property manages a diverse stock of 33,000 units, currently including 16,000 Romney ewes and 950 In-Calf cows and heifers.  It follows a comprehensive farming cycle, raising calves from birth to yearlings and finishing around half of the lambs on-site, with the rest moved to other finishing properties.

Centre Hill has a high level of on farm infrastructure and a modern well maintained vehicle fleet.  With a stretched-out layout spanning 25 kilometers, the station features a mix of flat and rolling hills, offering varied terrain for farming.


About You
You have a genuine passion for agriculture, and you are enthusiastic about further developing your skills and expertise in the field.
 
You will have:
·           Proven experience in managing a sheep and beef farm, including pasture management and feed budgeting
·           A first-class attitude to Health and Safety, Animal Welfare and Environmental Management
·           In-depth understanding and experience handling multiple stock units
·           Attention to detail, around stock performance and feed budgeting
·           Technically savvy with a strong interest in recording technology
·           Proven ability to build positive, productive teams
·           A ‘can-do’ attitude, an ability to problem solve/identify opportunities for improved performance and profit
