We are looking for a Senior Shepherd to join our close-knit team on Whenuakite, situated 20 minutes from Whitianga Coromandel Peninsula.  Whenuakite is a 520ha efficient bull system (EBS) property carrying 6,000 stock units. 
 
We run a cell system of 50 systems, 25 are moved one day and the other 25 are moved the next day, advising on animal health, pasture covers, feed allocation, etc.  Reporting to the Farm Manager about how well the system is performing, you’ll be able to (or will develop) the ability to make suggestions and solutions to issues that arise. So, you’ll learn a bit about varying land classes and different systems, which will further develop your technical skills and experience that will help you develop and progress your career. 
 
The Farm Manager, as well as the rest of the team, are happy to upskill a team member who has strong internal drive, motivation to learn, good communication skills, and who is a positive contributing member of the farm staff. 
 
Our next Senior Shepherd will need to have good stock sense and at least three to four genuine working dogs to effectively work their systems.  The farm manager is happy to upskill the right candidate on feed allocation, etc. so don’t hesitate to put your hat in the ring if you’re an experienced shepherd with good attention to detail and recording abilities, and a commitment to look after your health and safety as well as the health and safety of your teammates.  This is a great opportunity to build your skills and get the career progression you’ve been looking for. 
 
The position comes with a three-bedroom house with an external garage and a fantastic view / outlook. Primary school and secondary schooling are both located nearby. The location offers a variety of recreational activities.  A full and current NZ driver’s license is required.
