Fixed Term - On Farm

·         Looking to grow your skills as a Dairy Assistant?
·         Want to work with dairy cows and young stock?
·         Dairy Assistant –  Taupo area – Earnslaw Organic farm - Taupo

We are looking for an enthusiastic Dairy Farm Assistant with a positive and flexible attitude who is available to provide additional full time cover during our busy season. Ideally employment will be for around six months finishing on 31st January 2021.

Your positive attitude will mean that you’ll embrace the unique environment of this farm.  Organic farms have a higher requirement for record keeping – which keeps the Farm Manager quite busy.  This means that this role is a little more varied than your standard DA role.  Your day to day will involve bringing the cows in for milking, doing the milking, shifting both the cows and the young stock, etc. We’re all about keeping our animals healthy with positive preventative treatment.  Excellent animal husbandry skills as well as a high standard of health and safety will be the keys to success in this role. Having tractor driving and feeding out experience would be an advantage.

Earnslaw Organic Farm is located less than 15 minutes from Taupo and will milk 860 cows through a 54 bail rotary shed.

You will bring:
·       Eager and willingness to learn
·       Effective communication skills
·       First class attitude to Health and Safety and Animal Welfare
·       Self-motivation, initiative and a passion for dairy farming
·       Restricted or full driver’s licence with reliable transport to get to/from the farm
