Farm Technical Manager - Rangitaiki Station - Taupo
Waikato- Central Plateau - Taupo, New Zealand /
Livestock Operations – Livestock /
Permanent - On Farm
It’s not often that a true hybrid role comes along in farming, which makes our Farm Technical Manager role unique. This role is a key leadership role at our station and will make a substantial contribution to this iconic New Zealand farm.
You’ll lead our machinery team and ensure that all maintenance support services for vehicles and machinery are delivered across the station. You’ll draw on your experience with planning, ordering, servicing and managing external services to keep our workshop running at the top of its game.
You’ll also partner with the Farm Business Manager and other advisors (internal and external) to determine cropping, seeding, and fertiliser plans for the station. Again you’ll draw on your experience planning, ordering, and management of external providers to ensure that cropping programmes are created and delivered to maximize performance of the station.
Alongside the Farm Business Manager, you’ll evaluate performance data and assist in the development of long-term plans for performance. Your practical experience will be critical in reviewing, refining and updating crisis response plans.
This is a critical leadership role at this station, so your positive leadership and people management skills will be key to your success. We manage an array of internal and stakeholder relationships as well so being able to establish and maintain strong working relationships is another key deliverable.
You’ll bring strong mechanical experience as well as an ability to lead cropping/grassing programmes. If you have knowledge of farm software programmes that would be helpful but it is not essential, as we will be more than happy to train the successful candidate. Your general farming knowledge will be strong and you’ll be happy to learn more about fertiliser programmes, if you don’t currently have that skillset.
Rangitaiki is New Zealand’s third largest farm, and Pāmu’s second largest farm, with 8317 ha supporting 85,000 stock units in beef, sheep, deer and finishing.
