Join our team at Ruru Dairy Unit and assist with milking, feeding out, farm maintenance, data recording and more!
We have an opening for a Dairy Farm Assistant on one of our iconic West Coast farms, Ruru Dairy Unit. This is a typical ‘sleeves up’ shoulder to shoulder team-oriented farm that has all the development opportunities that comes with being part of a large organisation.
On a day-to-day basis you’ll assist with milking, the feeding out, farm maintenance, data recording, etc. This property is well run and productive, with high standards for cleanliness and structure.
We’ve got good processes and procedures in place that you’ll be comfortable working within. You’ll be brought up to speed to lead by example with your good animal health knowledge, robust planning and pasture management skills, and feed budgeting.
Ruru is a 441 effective ha block, milking 800 cows through a 60-bail rotary with ACR’s and MilkHub technology. Ruru is located 10 minutes from Lake Brunner, 30 minutes from Greymouth and two and a half hours from Christchurch.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to join a progressive organisation with a supportive, positive manager who will ensure that you have the right skills and training for your own development.
Ideally, you’ll have a hunger to learn and develop a first-class attitude to Health and Safety, animal welfare and environmental management. Personal development is encouraged and supported, with all team members encouraged to upskill, through Ag ITO, Farm IQ & Farmax.
We offer a competitive remuneration, accommodation, and benefits package, as well as ongoing training and personal development to help you reach your personal and career goals. The school bus pick up for Moana Primary School (15 minutes away) is at the farm gate. Secondary school pickup is also at the gate for Greymouth High Schools.
If you have any questions, contact Trinity Jackson, Farm Manager on 021 417 110.
