We’re looking for a capable Stock Manager to take the reins at Paeroa Station, based in the beautiful Hawkes Bay. With the guidance and support of an experienced Farm Manager, this role could excel your career by providing you with exposure to both strategic and operational farm management.
Paeroa Station carries 7,200 stock units across 780 ha (effective). Paeroa Station is situated in Elsthorpe and is 35 minutes from Waipukurau and 45 minutes from Havelock North. Kairakau beach and Tukituki river nearby.
The Stock Manager carries out day to day duties for a sheep and beef operation and works closely with key internal and external stakeholders to achieve Pāmu’s corporate strategy initiatives. Along with a strong work ethic, you’ll have a passion for farming and a proven ability with record keeping and communication.
This farm works cooperatively with two other farms in the area. There’s a strong sense of camaraderie in this extended team and we support each other, pitching in where required and receiving assistance when your farm needs it.
We are looking for our Stock Manager to have enough experience to independently make good day to day decisions about the running of the farm, as well as working closely with the Farm Manager for seasonal and strategic stock policy and pasture management planning.
Ideally, you’ll have:
· Minimum 3 years sheep and beef experience
· Ability to work on your own and as a part of a wider team
· Attention to detail and the ability to keep accurate records
· Excellent commercial skills
· Strong feed planning ability
· Ability to problem solve
· Outstanding stockmanship
· Ability to use farm management technology, systems and record keeping equipment. FarmIQ and Farmax are both used extensively.
· First class attitude to Health and Safety, Animal Welfare and Environmental Management
Paeroa has modern and well maintained infrastructure and offers excellent dog work opportunities.
The role comes with a 4 bedroom house with a single garage and the local school bus stops at the gate.
