The Opportunity
Thornicroft’s a diverse farm, running in altitude from 400m at the shores of Lake Mahinerangi to 730m at the top against the Lammerlaw ranges. As a Senior Shepherd here, you will be involved in all aspects of the day to day running of the station. The position offers a lot of good Dog/stock work, some feeding out in the tractor, general R&M, and deer work. Weighing and processing fawns & even velveting Wapiti sire stags.
This position will let you put your mark on Thornicroft, bringing with you your enthusiasm and new ideas.
The Farm
You’ll join a strong team at Thornicroft Station which is a 3000-ha hill country property, an hour inland from Dunedin in the Lee Stream district. The farm winters 20,000 sheep, beef and deer stock units, and 80% of progeny is finished on farm. Production is based around 6800 lambing ewes, 1800 fawning hinds and 480 calving cattle. The location offers easy access to a range of recreational activities including the local sports club and a great wee primary school located at Lee Stream.

· 3 to 4 working dogs
· Honest, reliable with a good work ethic and attitude to match
· Functions well in a team, as well as capable of working independently.
· Sense of humor, positive outlook on life
· Willingness to learn, and pass on your skills
· Proactive attitude towards health & safety
