Water Specialist - Rangitaiki Station - Taupo
Waikato- Central Plateau - Taupo, New Zealand /
Livestock Operations – Livestock /
Permanent - On Farm
Have you worked with water pump systems? Are you good at problem solving? Do you have a knack for figuring out how things work, and how to keep them working?
Our Water Specialist performs a critical function on Rangitaiki. Responsible for 21 different reticulated water systems, you’ll make sure that everything is in working order so that water is supplied out in the field to our farm teams. You’ll perform upkeep and monitoring so that we get the best performance from our systems. When a system does go down, you’ll have learned the system well enough to work your way backward, identify the issue, problem solve and rectify it quickly. You’ll have a calm disposition and a level head during high pressured times when the water does go out.
Our systems are vast and complex, which will keep you busy. We have started using Halo to monitor some of our water systems, which is a cool piece of farm tech for you to learn. The Halo system performs monitoring functions and sends updates to your phone and email.
You’ll be great for this role if you are level-headed, practical and handy, and have a good understanding of farm systems. You’ll be good at planning and will be able to stay on top of monitoring all systems. If you’ve got experience with water reticulation and/or understand the hydraulics of water, that would helpful but is not required. Experience with or an understanding of electricity works would also be beneficial. Your ability to problem solve will be the best indicator of success in this role. We are happy to upskill a candidate with the right disposition and motivation.
Our former Water Specialist, now the Infrastructure Manager, will work closely with you to get you up to speed on the necessary systems. You’ll work with a large, extended team including the machinery team, the fencer generals, and various contractors who work on the farm. It’s a positive environment with everyone working together to keep the farm running its best.
