The Opportunity
It is coming up to our busy calving season at Burgess Dairy Unit, and we are looking for a Dairy Farm Assistant who is also skilled at calf rearing to join our team.
 
Your day-to-day activities will involve bringing the cows in for milking, doing the milking, shifting both the cows and the young stock, and working in the calf shed. 
 
We have a robust health and safety regime at Pāmu, and have well maintained, up to date farm equipment that you’ll be able to use.  After your competency assessed and once safety trained, you’ll be able to use the ute, tractor, side by side, two wheeler, etc., to get your job done.
 
This is a fixed term position and will commence on the 1August 2023 until 1February 2024. You will work in a roster system with 95 hours per fortnight.
 
The Farm
Burgess Dairy Unit is an organic farm with a 258 effective ha property, milking 600 cows through a 54-bail rotary with ACR’s.  We are just a handy 10-minute drive from Taupo. 
 
About You
We are looking for someone who has an eagerness to learn and develop their career in dairy farming.
 
You will also have
·         Effective communication skills
·         First class attitude to Health and Safety, Animal Welfare and Environmental Management
·         Self-motivation, initiative and a passion for dairy farming
·         Current and full NZ driver’s licence
·         1-2 years calf rearing/dairy farming experience (preferred)
