We’re looking for a confident Stock Manager for one of our newly established genetics properties near Taupo (part of the Wairakei Estate). 

This Stock Manager role looks after 300 breeding cows on one of our genetics properties.  This is also a finishing operation for 1,500 trade lambs and sheep dairy grazing. Along with a strong work ethic, you’ll have a passion for farming and will be interested in the benefits that farm tech and innovation offer for modern day farming operations.  You’ll be self-motivated, know what’s expected of you on a day to day basis and be able to deliver while working as part of a strong extended team. 

This Stock Manager role carries out day to day duties for a sheep and beef operation and works closely with key internal and external stakeholders to achieve Pāmu’s corporate strategy initiatives.  

This farm works cooperatively with two other farms in the area.  There’s a strong sense of camaraderie in this extended team and we support each other – having a laugh, pitching in where required, and receiving assistance when your farm needs it.

We don’t require genetics farming experience but an understanding of the value of genetics operations is important.  There is a bit more record keeping that is required as part of the genetics process, so strong attention to detail is a must for our successful candidate.  Experience with FarmIQ and data entry / management would be beneficial but we are happy to train the right candidate. 

We’ll be looking for our Stock Manager to have enough experience to independently make good day to day decisions about the running of the farm. 

Ideally you’ll have:
·       Minimum 3 years sheep and beef experience
·       Ability to work on your own and as a part of a wider team
·       Attention to detail and the ability to keep accurate records
·       Interest in stud stock in both sheep and cattle

The farm is located 15 mins north of the Taupo, part of the Wairakei Estate.  There is no house available on the farm so this will be a drive-in/drive-out role.  Pāmu provides a housing allowance in this instance and we can discuss this if you progressed to interview for the role.
