Join our team on Waipuna Farm wintering1900 ewes, 380 calves and 50 yearling cattle.
The Opportunity
The role is approximately 50:50 stock work and general work but this varies during the season. You will be working along side the manager day to day but will also need the attitude to be able to productively work alone unsupervised.
The Farm
Waipuna Farm is a 550ha effective flat to rolling property. The core of the operation is an all-grass wintering system and an efficient cattle finishing operation. The farm winters 1900 ewes, 380 calves and 50 yearling cattle. The aim is to finish all cattle and 2000 lambs over the summer.
It’s located 10 minutes from Mossburn, 40 minutes from Te Anau, and 90 minutes from Queenstown and Invercargill. Outdoor activities abound with great hunting (literally at your back doorstep) fishing, plus a rugby club at Mossburn.
About You
You will have a positive attitude and the ability to communicate observations openly and honestly to the manager. We are happy to train the right person, so you need to be motivated to learn and develop your skillset.
You will also have:
· The ability to give and receive feedback about the tasks at hand
· The desire to grow in your career
· Experience in the rural sector
· 1-2 working dogs (preferable, not essential)
