The Opportunity
Your responsibilities include assisting with milking, fencing and general stock work as well as helping the Farm Manager to reach production targets by adopting a leadership role within the cow shed during milking’s along and supporting feed allocation and farm maintenance.
There’s a great team environment on this farm and Pāmu support their staff by maintaining their farm equipment, providing all personal protective equipment (including footwear) and protective clothing as well as health and safety gear. You’ll have a great work-life balance with a 6/2 roster (June -Jan) and a 6/3 (Feb – May).
You can start either in April or 1 June 2023, depending on your availability.
The Farm
Bounty Dairy Unit is a 629-ha property, that winters 1500 cows and milks 1400 through a 60-bail rotary at peak.
About You
You will be a team leader, with a positive attitude and ability to manage situations as they arise.
Along with your positive attitude, you will have:
· 2-3 years’ dairy experience
· Strong communication skills to motivate and coach team members
· An exceptional attitude towards Health and Safety, and Animal Welfare
· Sound knowledge and experience in grazing, pasture management and feed budgeting
· Restricted or full NZ driver’s license (essential)
Ideally you will have managed smaller farm or done contract milker and are seeking to step back a little but still have day to day hands on management of large scale.
