We are seeking an experienced and driven individual to join our Landsdown team as the Dairy Production Manager (2IC). Landsdown is based near Balclutha in Otago and is a 262 ha block, milking 660 cows through a 50 bail rotary, with ACR’s and Milkhub technology.
The successful applicant will demonstrate strong people management skills, enthusiasm and strong communication. As 2IC, this will involve taking a degree of responsibility for feed allocation and budgeting, and animal health/record keeping. Having sound knowledge across all aspects of dairy operations will be a bonus. You should exhibit a degree of confidence and accuracy to enable you to proactively manage the daily operations when the Farm Manager is on rostered time off.
This role comes with a modern 4-bedroom house. It is a convenient location offering a great variety of outdoor recreational activities nearby and has easy access to local schooling. School bus pickups from the farm gate.
You will bring:
·         Minimum 3 years dairy farming experience
·         First class attitude to Health and Safety and Animal Welfare
·         Sound knowledge and experience in grazing and pasture management
·         Self-motivation, initiative and a passion for dairy farming
·         Current NZ driver’s licence
