Manage our calf rearing team and rear over 400 heifer calves and 1700 beef calves for sale over the 2023 season.
The Opportunity
You will be a team leader at Pinta Dairy Farm, working on a fixed-term basis over the calf rearing season. This will be a fixed-term role from 1 July 2023 to 1 December 2023. This is a drive-in/drive-out role. The biggest thing you need is empathy, patience, and respect for animals.
This farm has a manager has an open, communicative style – taking care to explain the “why” around decisions so that the team has good context. The team is valued and is enthusiastic and positive team who support each other in their work as well as with upskilling.
You’ll have great work-life balance as the team works to a 6/2 roster.
The Farm
Pinta Dairy Unit is Pāmu’s largest dairy farm, milking 2,100 dairy cows on 850 ha through our 80-bail rotary dairy shed. The successful candidate will need to be flexible around work hours and have reliable transport essential to get you to/from farm.
About You
You’ll fit right in with your strong work ethic and positive outlook, you will bring some experience coaching calf rearers and your ability to communicate clearly will be vital to your success.
You will also have:
· An exceptional attitude to health and safety and animal welfare
· 2 years calf rearing experience
· A good eye for detail and a willingness to learn
· Be punctual and reliable. Reliable transport a must
· The ability to work unsupervised
