The Opportunity
If you like variety in your day, you’re handy with tools or you’re someone who can turn your hand to most things on the farm, then this role on Panekiri’s East Coast sheep and beef station could be perfect for you.
As a fencer general, your role will be varied, you will be doing fencing and general work, doing repairs on the farm, including the buildings, maintenance and operating machinery.  And from time to time, you will be helping the team out with general farm, and stock work.
Panekiri station is one the largest in Pāmu, it has a strong focus on staff development and a supportive team and farm manager.
A typical day could include:
·        Repairs and maintenance on fences, yards, and buildings
·        General tractor/excavator work
·        Helping in the yards
·        Maintain the water system for the station, full training provided
You will be an integral part of the farm management team, attending the weekly farm planning meetings and working closely with the Farm Manager and Stock Managers. The role will be tailored to your strengths and full training given.
About You
Are you a practically minded ‘doer’ who is resourceful and open to doing a range of tasks within a farm setting.
The role will suit you if you have a trade background or a ‘hands on’ skill set. You don’t need to have a farming background however any farming, building, excavator or fencing experience you have will be a bonus.
Nice to have:
-       Experience working on a farm
-       Experience in fencing
-       Experience in operating tractors or large machines/excavating
You will have:
-       Experience in general maintenance and or machinery
-       A ‘can do’ and ‘team orientated’ attitude
-       Ability to work alone and self-manage
-       Commitment to high standards of quality and safety
-       Current full NZ driver’s licence (Extra licences would be beneficial)
The Farm
Panekiri Station is a 9,000ha total, 5,200ha effective hill country station wintering 50,000 su, bordered by Te Urewera National Park and located 40km northwest of Wairoa and 2 hours from Napier Airport.
