About the role:
We're seeking a visionary Director of Engineering, Graphics & Simulation to lead our content, simulation, and rendering teams as they apply 3D game technologies to the exciting fields of synthetic data, machine learning, and computer vision. You'll spearhead a team of software developers and 3D artists, driving innovation in rendering realism, simulation fidelity, content diversity, and overall system performance. Your deep expertise in graphics and simulation will be instrumental in bridging the gap between virtual worlds and real-world applications, ultimately enabling autonomous systems that can operate more reliably in the real world.

What you'll do:

    • Lead the visual experience: Provide technical leadership and strategic vision for our content, simulation, and rendering teams, fostering a culture of creativity and technical excellence.
    • Drive Innovation: Apply cutting-edge game technology principles and techniques to enhance the realism, fidelity, and performance of our synthetic data platform.
    • Own the Vision: Define the technical roadmap for the team, aligning with broader company objectives and product vision.
    • Ensure Delivery: Manage project timelines, resource allocation, and deliverables to ensure successful execution of projects.
    • Collaborate: Partner with cross-functional teams (ML, platform, SDK, QA) to integrate and optimize graphics, simulation, and rendering within the broader product ecosystem.
    • Recruit and Retain: Attract top talent and build a high-performing team capable of pushing the boundaries of game technology.
    • Elevate Quality: Establish and maintain high standards for code quality, performance optimization, and artistic excellence.
    • Elevate Performance: Continuously optimize system performance to meet the demands of complex simulations and rendering.

What you’ll bring:

    • Industry expertise: Deep experience in the video game, computer animation, or VFX industries, with demonstrated ability to deliver high-quality visuals and simulations.
    • Technical leadership: Proven track record of leading and mentoring high-performing technical teams in game technology or related fields.
    • Strong communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills to articulate technical concepts clearly and concisely.
    • Artistic Sensibility: A strong understanding of visual aesthetics, lighting, composition, and animation principles.
    • Strategic mindset: Ability to translate business objectives into actionable technical goals and roadmaps.
    • Problem-solving skills: A knack for identifying and resolving complex technical challenges.
    • Passion for innovation: A drive to explore new technologies and methodologies to advance the state of the art.

What will help you stand out:

    • Unreal Engine expertise: In-depth knowledge of Unreal Engine and its application to rendering and simulation.
    • Houdini experience: Familiarity with Houdini for 3D content creation and procedural workflows.
    • C++ proficiency: Strong programming skills in C++, the primary language used by our engineering team.
    • Domain knowledge: Experience with machine learning, computer vision, or synthetic data.
    • Version control: Experience using Perforce for source control and release management.
    • Cloud infrastructure: Familiarity with cloud-based infrastructure (AWS, Azure, GCP) for deploying and scaling applications.

What we offer:
