Parallel Systems is an early-stage startup company developing the future of intermodal transportation. Our mission is to decarbonize freight while improving supply chain logistics and safety. We are developing vehicles and software to create new autonomous and electric transportation systems for existing rail infrastructure.

At Parallel Systems, we value the team as much as the mission. We want to work with talented people who are humble, motivated, and persistent. Our most successful team members are self-starters and collaborate with others to reach our collective goals.

Join us in the Arts District in summer of 2023 for an in-person internship! You will be assigned a project and a mentor, and interact daily with fellow engineers to create hardware to be deployed in the real world.

As an intern, you'll be working on hardware to solve various challenges. We're currently developing custom designs for battery management systems, traction inverters, vehicle controllers, anti-lock brakes systems, vehicle telemetry, and perception system integration. Each of these products have opportunity to contribute directly to the design, validation, or integration. Additionally, we'll be executing vehicle pilot programs, in which we will be working directly with the integrated vehicles.

We are looking for interns with experience in any of the following: Analog and Digital Circuit Design, Power Electronics, PCBA design, Test instrumentation, Software, and/or analytical/scientific programming (i.e. Python, Matlab, Excel).

Responsibilities

    • Work closely with multi-disciplinary engineering teams.
    • Execute on all phases of hardware development including requirements capture, prototyping, and design validation.
    • Design system block diagrams, schematics, select components, and layout PCBAs.
    • Support vehicle integration and validation.

Requirements

    • Currently enrolled in a full-time program working towards a bachelors, masters or PhD in electrical engineering or a related engineering field
