About Editor, Curatorial Brands
As an Editor, you will join a dynamic editorial team with fresh ideas and diverse perspectives. You will oversee the curation and production of content for our curatorial brands, including The Wonder, Recommended Reads, and Affordable Trips. This role will work with a network of freelance curators who will source articles, videos, and more from various web publications. It will also require the use of tools such as BuzzSumo to find relevant content across hundreds of websites. You will filter through selections, write, edit, and prepare content to be distributed on each brand. You must set a strategic direction for each brand while working to achieve greater efficiency, quality, and content performance.
Accountabilities
- Content curation. Compiling and filtering through content selections to determine what content should be distributed across each brand.
- Content production. Building and maintaining a monthly editorial calendar, working with freelancers, and overseeing processes to produce and distribute content to subscribers.
- Editorial quality. Ensuring your brands deliver high-quality, aligned content. Executing style guidelines, brand voice, and quality standards that are consistent and distinctive.
- Business performance. Understanding the role content plays in keeping the brand engaging and profitable. Leveraging data and insights to make informed content decisions that lead to stronger key metrics such as click-through rate.
- Reporting. Compiling insights based on content performance and reporting learnings to the rest of the Editorial team to help with content production strategy.
Qualifications
- 3+ years experience as a writer or editor within a digital publishing company.
- Superior writing, copy-editing, line-editing, and top-editing skills.
- Creative perspective and an ability to come up with unique ideas.
- Ability to understand what types of content perform well and deduce the reasoning behind high and low performance.
- Ability to remain organized when there are many moving parts.
- Understanding of email publishing or marketing is a plus.
- Understanding of AP style.
- Passion for web publishing and viral content.
- Proactive and collaborative low-ego work style; you love working with people and people love working with you.
The pay for this role has a salary range of $80,000 to $90,000. The actual salary offer will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience and location.
