About the Role

As Sales & Partnerships Manager, you will lead the pursuit to scale our volume of direct sales with aligned brands. You will work to shift away from performance revenue, charge higher CPMs, and work directly with brands rather than via agencies.
This role will primarily focus on increasing the sales volume of dedicated placements within newsletters, including full email newsletter takeovers and sponsored sections. There will also be other sellable channels at your disposal, including web and social.

To execute this role, you will partner closely with the Founder and GM of Nice News. Over time, with success, you will be able to oversee additional components of sales and partnerships and gain additional support.

While this position may be remote (U.S.A. ONLY - no out-of-country candidates will be considered), we prefer candidates who can work in Los Angeles, Orange County, or New York City.

Sales Strategy & Growth

    • Develop and deploy a direct sales and partnerships strategy, which includes prospecting, pipeline management, upselling, and renewals.
    • Scale the volume of direct partnerships for primary, secondary, and tertiary email placements based on flat fees.
    • Build out the Nice News Studio to close larger partnerships in collaboration with various brands, creating custom content including featured stories and articles on the Nice News website.

Account Management

    • Coordinate the reception and creation of assets for all sponsorships.
    • Manage the sponsorship calendar to fill all inventory at the highest possible rates, including performance agency and remnant inventory pricing when necessary.
    • Implement refined processes to review and report on the performance of campaigns to clients post-sale.

Process & Deliverables

    • Oversee the development of any necessary sales assets, including case studies and a rate card.
    • Continue to develop our internal direct sales offerings by ideating and executing the creation of ad products, capabilities, and functionality.
    • Establish a CRM system for prospecting and pipeline management.

Qualifications

    • 2-5 years of experience in digital publishing sales, sponsorships, or similar, ideally at leading brands.
    • Experience selling email sponsorships for newsletters or a similar product.
    • Demonstrated capacity to prospect, qualify leads, and close deals.
    • A Rolodex of clients that could buy ads/sponsorships across our suite of brands.
    • Strong interpersonal skills, proven negotiation skills, and a relentless drive to achieve results.
    • Ability to set up and utilize a CRM system.
    • Willingness to wear many hats and do work without requiring ample support.
    • Strong organizational skills and a high level of attention to detail.
    • Ability to work cross-functionally with many other roles and stakeholders.
    • Entrepreneurial spirit, and a hunger for learning and improvement.
