Pathpoint is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our Engineering Team and focus on building our infrastructure.

Senior Software Engineers are the technical leaders of their teams, responsible for building the highly leveraged software systems that are multipliers of the team’s efficiency and working closely with other team leaders to advise on planning and set technical direction.

Our teams are small to enable focus and often employ Agile Development practices to solve problems in a complex real-world domain where the requirements may not yet be fully defined. Hence, the solutions need to be resilient to change while being stable and performant.

About Pathpoint
Pathpoint is building the next generation of technology for the $160B Excess and Surplus Lines insurance market. We're working with the premier carriers and brokerages to build a new trading exchange that turns painful and time-consuming back and forth into a seamless digital experience. We have transitioned to a fully remote model, empowering our team members to work independently from wherever they feel most safe and productive, without a central office. We seek candidates who see this world as an opportunity to craft new best practices and build a remote-first culture that doesn't just survive but thrives. (Learn more)

Infrastructure Engineering To Us Means:

    • Building robust, broadly useful cloud infrastructure on which other engineers can build our services and applications.
    • Building observability into all layers of the stack: frontend, backend, and services.
    • Owning robust continuous testing and deployment pipelines that enable rapid development without sacrificing quality or stability.
    • Independently producing high-quality code, picking up features & bugs that can require significant problem solving to land.
    • Performing code reviews to lift the entire team’s code quality.
    • Participating in hiring by running onsite sessions under the guidance of more senior engineers.
    • Collaborating with the application engineering teams to deliver a platform that is a multiplier, not a blocker, of executing their goals and delivering value to our customers.

What We Look For:

    • 5+ years of experience at other highly functioning software engineering team(s).
    • Cloud experience a must: We're on AWS, deploy the main application with AWS ECS configured through CloudFormation (CDK, Codepipeline, Fargate, ECR, ECS, RDS, Cloudwatch, SQS).
    • Experience with our tooling set is a plus: Docker, Datadog, GitHub Actions, Auth0
    • User empathy, an interest in learning about the insurance industry, and pragmatic critical thinking skills.
    • An ability to map Pathpoint’s long-term roadmap into smaller projects that make progress under potentially high uncertainty.
    • Solid experience building distributed web services.
    • Experience building distributed systems or service layers.
    • Golang, SQL (Postgres), and Node experience are a big plus.
    • We also heavily use TypeScript, GraphQL, and React, so experience with these are nice to have.

What We Offer:

    • Competitive healthcare packages and vacation benefits.
    • 401(k) plans to support your financial future.
    • A supportive and brilliant team fostering a learning and fun environment.
    • Flexible time-off and vacation policies, respecting the long-term journey of our work.
