Job Description:
We are actively hiring a hands-on DevOps manager who wants to create something meaningful that will greatly improve people’s lives. PatientPing is a world-class platform that collects, analyzes, and exposes real-time patient flows through the US health care network in thoughtful, innovative ways. This role is a unique opportunity for someone who not only wishes to architect and build scalable, fault-tolerant, cloud-based solutions, but also help evolve the DevOps department into an even more successful organization as the company grows.
What You Will Do:
• Establish a roadmap for building industry-leading visibility, predictability, and manageability into PatientPing's software and infrastructure
• Work closely with the VP of Engineering to ensure the highest standards of design, implementation, performance, and security are met
• Empower your reports to become the runtime technical conscience of PatientPing Engineering
• Take an already high-performing team and grow it into one that is truly exceptional
What Success Looks like:
In 3 months...
• Become familiar with the details of our business domain, deployment process, and DevOps codebase
• Manage the DevOps team's standups and process artifacts
• Collaborate with Product and Software Engineering to identify and prioritize new initiatives
• Begin contributing to Ansible playbooks and other automation components
In 6 months…
• Be well along the path of implementing a realistic but ambitious service improvement roadmap
• Participate in the recruiting process to attract high caliber talent
• Develop the careers of engineers by providing feedback and creating growth opportunities
• Take a leading role in the software development process through mentorship and peer review
In 12 months…
• Demonstrate repeated delivery of team-sized goals within expected timeframes
• Formulate meaningful improvements to process and demonstrated increased team productivity
• Motivate, educate, and inspire the entire PatientPing Engineering organization to produce exceptionally well-behaved and resilient services
What You Need:
• 8+ years handling the provisioning, deployment, monitoring, and alerting of server-side applications
• 5+ years managing direct reports
• 5+ years coding in modern "devops"-y  languages such as Python, Ruby, or Go
• 3+ years experience building managed solutions in AWS or other public cloud environment
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
