We’re seeking a motivated, passionate Research Associate or Associate Scientist to join our Assay Research Team dedicated to advancing our novel assay and consumable technology. This team tackles a diverse set of problems, such as developing our novel biochemical assay, creating innovative sample prep solutions for multiple sample types, and collaborating with internal and external partners to conduct studies using Pattern's system. In this role, your responsibilities will include assisting Scientists with executing experiments, data management, and specimen and sample preparation. Over time, you will have the opportunity to manage projects and design experiments independently.

How You Will Contribute

    • Execute experiments in a BSL-2 laboratory including processing clinical specimens, bacterial culture propagation and maintenance, and susceptibility testing
    • Verify, record, and report the accuracy and quality of numerical data, experimental materials, methods and results in written and digital formats
    • Interpret and communicate research findings
    • Coordinate across teams to resolve process issues
    • Follow laboratory safety protocols, GLP, and GDP; maintain lab cleanliness and organization; and troubleshoot and maintain lab equipment
    • Share ideas for process or experiment design improvement

Desired Education and Experience

    • BS required in Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Biomedical Engineering, or a related discipline
    • Preference for experience with microbiology
    • 1-2 years of hands-on laboratory experience is required (may include internships or research assistant positions during undergrad)
    • Familiarity with the following skills: aseptic technique, pipetting, bacterial growth, biochemical assay development, and other general wet lab bench skills (pipetting, titrating, media prep, etc.)
